How Enpass Works?

Step 1: Download Enpass 

The very first step is to head over to the official Enpass website and grab the installer.

• Scroll to the section “Download for Windows.”
• You’ll get two options: download via direct installer or get it from the Microsoft Store.
• Choose the one that suits your preference.

Step 2: Open Enpass & Choose How You Want to Use It

Once installed, launch the Enpass app.

• You’ll be welcomed with a neat “Welcome to Enpass” interface.
• The app asks, "Choose how you'll use Enpass".
• You can select between:
•          Personal: Meant for individual or family usage.
•          Business: Ideal for workplace accounts and team-based sharing.

In this test, we selected the Personal option to move forward.

Step 3: Enter Your Email & Verify

Next comes activation, a fairly simple process.

• Type in your email address.
• Click “Send Code.”
• Check your inbox for the 6-digit verification code sent by Enpass.
• Enter the code into the app to complete your registration.

Note: You don’t have to create a password or sign up with any online account. It’s purely used to activate the free plan.

Step 4: Successful Account Activation 

Once verified, Enpass will notify you that your account has been successfully activated.

You’ll now be using the LITE plan, which comes with:

• Unlimited usage on desktop
• Limited to 25 items on mobile
• Option to upgrade later if needed

No subscription binding. No trial expiry. Just clean access to the password manager’s core features.

Step 5: Create Your Master Password

Right after activation, Enpass will prompt you to set a Master Password. This is the most important password; it's the key to unlock all your stored data.

• Enpass does not store or recover your Master Password, so save it somewhere safe.

Step 6: Welcome To Your Vault 

Once the Master Password is set, Enpass creates your first vault, where all your data will be stored.

• You’ll land on a clean interface with no data yet.

Step 7: Add Your First Password Item

Click on the “+” icon to add a new item. You’ll see a list of templates like:

• Login (for websites or apps)
• Credit Card
• Email Account
• Bank Account
• License

Just select one, and fill in the fields:

• Title
• Username
• Password (you can use the built-in password generator)
• URL (for autofill)
• Notes or Attachments

Click “Save” and it’s securely stored.

Step 8: Sync Your Vault To The Cloud 

To avoid data loss, you can sync your vault with cloud services like:

• Google Drive
• Dropbox
• OneDrive
• iCloud (Mac only)
• WebDAV / Nextcloud

Here is how you can do it:

• Go to Settings > Vaults
• Choose your vault - Tap “Set Up Sync.”
• Pick your cloud provider
• Sign in to link your account

Your data stays encrypted locally before syncing, so even your cloud provider can't read it.

Step 9: Enable Autofill In Browser 

You can also set up browser autofill for faster login:

• Install Enpass Browser Extension for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.
• Pair it with your desktop app by following the on-screen steps.
• Enpass will auto-suggest saved credentials when you visit login pages.
